New Home Sales: March 2017

Today, the U.S. Census Department released its monthly New Residential Home Sales Report for March showing an increase with sales rising 5.8% from February climbing 15.6% above the level seen in March 2016 but still remaining near an historically low level with 621K SAAR units.

The monthly supply declined to 5.2 months while the median selling price increased 1.19% and the average selling price increased by 5.58% from the year ago level.

New Home Sales: November 2016

Today, the U.S. Census Department released its monthly New Residential Home Sales Report for November showing an increase with sales rising 5.2% from October climbing 16.5% above the level seen in November 2015 but still remaining near an historically low level with 592K SAAR units.

The monthly supply declined to 5.1 months while the median selling price declined 3.66% and the average selling price declined 4.49% from the year ago level.

New Home Sales: June 2016

Earlier this week, the U.S. Census Department released its monthly New Residential Home Sales Report for June showing an increase with sales rising 3.5% from May climbing 25.4% above the level seen in June 2015 but still remaining near an historically low level with 592K SAAR units.

The monthly supply declined to 4.9 months while the median selling price increased 6.5% and the average selling price increased 8.78% from the year ago level.

New Home Sales: May 2016

Today, the U.S. Census Department released its monthly New Residential Home Sales Report for May showing a decline with sales falling 6.0% from April but climbing 8.7% above the level seen in May 2015 and still remaining near an historically low level with 551K SAAR units.

The monthly supply increased to 5.3 months while the median selling price declined 9.3% and the average selling price declined 5.3% from the year ago level.

New Home Sales: March 2016

Today, the U.S. Census Department released its monthly New Residential Home Sales Report for March showing sales declined 1.5% from February but still remained 5.4% above the level seen in March 2015 and remaining near an historically low level with 511K SAAR units.

The monthly supply increased to 5.8 months while the median selling price declined 1.84% and the average selling price increased 0.99% from the year ago level.

New Home Sales: February 2016

Today, the U.S. Census Department released its monthly New Residential Home Sales Report for February showing sales increased 2.0% from January but still remained 6.1% below the level seen in February 2015 and remaining near an historically low level with 512K SAAR units.

The monthly supply remained flat at 5.6 months while the median selling price increased 2.55% and the average selling price declined 1.97% from the year ago level.

New Home Sales: January 2016

Today, the U.S. Census Department released its monthly New Residential Home Sales Report for January showing sales declined a notable 9.2% from December falling 5.2% below the level seen in January 2015 and remaining near an historically low level with 494K SAAR units.

The monthly supply increased to 5.8 months while the median selling price declined 4.52% and the average selling price increased 2.72% from the year ago level.

Today, the U.S. Census Department released its monthly New Residential Home Sales Report for December showing sales jumped a notable 10.8% from November rising 9.9% above the level seen in December 2014 but still remaining near an historically low level with 544K SAAR units.

The monthly supply declined to 7.1 months while the median selling price declined 2.73% and the average selling price declined 4.89% from the year ago level.

New Home Sales: August 2015

Today, the U.S. Census Department released its monthly New Residential Home Sales Report for August showing sales jumped a notable 5.7% from July rising 21.6% above the level seen in August 2014 but still remaining near an historically low level with 552K SAAR units.

The monthly supply declined to 4.7 months while the median selling price increased 0.34% and the average selling price declined 0.79% from the year ago level.

Today, the U.S. Census Department released its monthly New Residential Home Sales Report for April showing sales jumped a notable 6.8% from March rising 26.1% above the level seen in April 2014 but still remaining near an historically low level with 517K SAAR units.

The monthly supply declined to 4.8 months while the median selling price increased 8.31% and the average selling price increased 5.04% from the year ago level.

Today, the U.S. Census Department released its monthly New Residential Home Sales Report for December showing sales jumping 11.6% from November and rising 8.8% above the level seen in December 2013 but still remaining near an historically low level with 481K SAAR units.

Today, the U.S. Census Department released its monthly New Residential Home Sales Report for June showing a notable decline with sales declining 8.1% from May falling 11.5% below the level seen in June 2013 remaining near an historically low level with 406K SAAR units.

Today, the U.S. Census Department released its monthly New Residential Home Sales Report for May showing a notable improvement with sales climbing 18.6% from April rising a whopping 16.9% above the level seen in May 2013 but still remaining near an historically low level with 504K SAAR units.

The monthly supply declined to 4.5 months while the median selling price increased 6.94% and the average selling price increased 1.66% from the year ago level.

Today, the U.S. Census Department released its monthly New Residential Home Sales Report for April showing a some improvement with sales climbing 6.4% from March but still dropping 4.2% below the level seen in April 2013 and remaining at an historically low level of 433K SAAR units.

The monthly supply declined to 5.3 months while the median selling price declined 1.25% and the average selling price declined 5.01% from the year ago level.

New Home Sales: March 2014

Today, the U.S. Census Department released its monthly New Residential Home Sales Report for March showing a notable decline with sales falling a whopping 14.5% from February dropping 13.3% below the level seen in March 2013 and remaining at an historically low level of 384K SAAR units.

The monthly supply increased to 6.0 months (considered fairly balanced between buyers and sellers) while the median selling price jumped 12.62% and the average selling price increased 11.33% from the year ago level.

Today, the U.S. Census Department released its monthly New Residential Home Sales Report for December showing a notable decline with sales falling 7.0% from November but still rising 4.5% above the level seen in December 2012 remaining at an historically low level of 414K SAAR units.

The monthly supply increased to 5.0 months while the median selling price increased 4.61% and the average selling price increased 4.08% from the year ago level.

New Home Sales: October 2013

Today, the U.S. Census Department released its monthly New Residential Home Sales Report for October showing a notable increase with sales climbing a whopping 25.4% from September and rising 21.6% above the level seen in October 2012 remaining at an historically low level of 444K SAAR units.

It's important to note that today's results were likely skewed by the recent government shutdown with additional months results required to determine if today's jump is lasting or just some noise in the data.

The monthly supply decreased to 4.9 months while the median selling price declined 0.57% and the average selling price increased 12.72% from the year ago level.

New Home Sales: August 2013

Today, the U.S. Census Department released its monthly New Residential Home Sales Report for August showing a notable increase with sales climbing 7.9% from July and rising 12.6% above the level seen in August 2012 remaining at an historically low level of 421K SAAR units.

It's important to recognize that the inventory of new homes appears to be mounting as unsold units totaled 175K, still though near the lowest level seen in in at least 47 years while the median number of months for sale declined to 3.0.

The monthly supply decreased to 5.0 months while the median selling price increased 0.55% and the average selling price increased 4.39% from the year ago level.
