The Swelling Population of Long Term Unemployed

Worse off possibly than the other metrics tracking the long term unemployed might be the growing portion of workers now unemployed 27 weeks and over.

Out of the total of all unemployed persons, the population of long term unemployed has now swelled to a whopping 46%.

Nearly half of those currently unemployed have been so for more than six months.

This is a staggering metric when you consider the effect that this must have on workers likely crushing their sense of optimism and seriously impacting their skills.
